Condensation film on an inclined rotating disk

The three dimensional problem of steady fluid deposition on an inclined rotating disk is solved by similarity transform. For a given spraying rate there may be one, two or no steady state solution. The inclination causes a downward draining flow and a lateral flow. Perturbation solutions compare well with exact similarity solutions when the fluid film is thin.     

Positive solutions and eigenvalue regions of two-delay singular systems with a twin parameter

The paper is concerned with a two-delay singular differential system with a twin parameter. Applying fixed-point index theory, we show the relationship between the asymptotic behaviors of nonlinearities (at zero and infinity) and the open regions (eigenvalue regions) of parameters, which are correlated with delays, such that the system has zero, one and two positive solution(s).     

On upper and lower D*-supercontinuous multifunctions

We define a multifunction F: X ⇝ Y to be upper (lower) D*-supercontinuous if F ⁺(V) (F ⁻(V)) is d*-open in X for every open set V of Y. We obtain some characterizations and several properties concerning upper (lower) D*-supercontinuous multifunctions.      

Quotient probabilistic normed spaces and completeness results

We introduce the concept of quotient in PN spaces and give some examples. We prove some theorems with regard to the completeness of a quotient.     

Eigenvalue ratios of vibrating strings

Summary New results for the eigenvalue ratios of vibrating strings are presented partially in connection with previous results concerning Schr?dinger operators.     

Mackey Topologies and Mixed Topologies in Riesz Spaces

The possibility of characterizing the Mackey topology of a dual pair of vector spaces as a generalized inductive limit (or mixed) topology is investigated. Positive answers are given for a wide range of dual pairs of Riesz spaces (vector lattices) and non-commutative Banach function spaces (or symmetric operator spaces).     

Calibrated complex structures on the generalized tangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold

We study calibrated complex structures on the generalized tangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold M and their relationship to the Riemannian geometry of M. In particular we introduce a concept of integrability of such structures and we prove that integrability conditions are strictly related to the existence of certain Codazzi tensors on M.     

Completeness and compactness for varieties over a local field

This paper shows that for a local field K, a subfield k ⊂ K and a variety X over k, X is complete if and only if for every finite field extension Kʹ | K, the set X(Kʹ) is compact in its strong topology. Area,coarea, and approximation in <Emphasis Type="Italic">W</Emphasis><Superscript>1,1</Superscript>

Let Ω⊂ℝ ⁿ be an arbitrary open set. We characterize the space W ^1,1 _loc(Ω) using variants of the classical area and coarea formulas. We use these characterizations to obtain a norm approximation and trace theorems for functions in the space W ^1,1(ℝ ⁿ ).
